Photo shoot: LOVE IS
Alright guys! The photos are FINALLY here. What am I talking about right? If you guys remember, Fai and I did a photo shoot together some time back right before 2013 ended and the pictures are finally ready to be shared with everyone! Before I begin, I just want to make sure that everyone knows that this is NOT an advertorial at all. I mean, come on, when do Fai and I ever have the luxury of doing things like these together? So when the moment is capture, it ought to be shared ;)
The shoot was initiated by Revelation Creative House. They are a photography, videography, branding and designing company that specializes in (how I'd like to describe them for) special effects in their work. One of Fai's good friend, Sam, is part of this company and had requested for us to be the first couple to try out their new campaign entitled "LOVE IS".
Basically, LOVE IS a concept photo shoot where couples or any of your loved ones are challenge to explore reasons why you guys love each other, or how you guys fell in love with each other, or what love means to the both of you. We've seen tons of couple photo shoot pictures before and they're pretty much the same "dreamy, pretty and light hearted" sort. But since this campaign is by Revelation Creative House, which has a reputation of projecting photographs in vibrant, stunning colors, the photos for LOVE IS are definitely one of a kind.
Here's how it all began.
We got invited for dinner to Marriot Pool Grill with the team consisting of Sam and Josiah. I don't know if you guys remember, but I posted a picture of a beautiful view from the hotel which should be weird because Fai and I don't do fine dining. HAHA. Anyway, we went and didn't know what Sam had in mind and only found out when we were there. It came as both a shock but a pleasant surprise as well.
I've always wanted to do a photo shoot with Fai but he's always so shy and we never had the time anyway. So it was great and we all started discussing on what love means to the both of us. From there, we worked towards an excellent concept where Fai and I travelled back in time for a bit to when we first met. I guess that story of how we met never gets old. So as you can see above, it's an Instagram picture that I've posted some time back. Fai and I are in outfits that reflect on who we are from the day we met to present day. And yes, we tried to replicate what we wore the every first time we saw each other 2 years ago. It wasn't that challenging outfit wise, but I'm sure I looked really different 2 years ago. I remember I had a monroe piercing then. Oh gosh, what was I thinking??
Managed to find old pictures of us the exact day we saw each other at Chinatown Swap "N" Shop Flea. Of course, we're not in the same picture. We were strangers! hahahaha. And Fai, aren't you SO GLAD that you heed my advice and did something to that old helmet hair of yours?
oh and I'm dying to be 17 again :(
Anyway, besides "traveling back in time" to where we first met, the shoot also follows our description of what we think LOVE IS. So you can be assured that every couple who participates in this campaign will end up with really different pictures that holds extremely strong messages that are personal and will only be understood by your special other half.
That's why I think this campaign was worth giving up my own time for because now, Fai and I have these pictures to remind ourselves of our relationship forever. I think it'll so awesome to print them into little wallet sizes so they can be kept as momentos!

This was our classy, sophisticated and mature get-up.
The shoot was awesome. It went really smoothly and I have to say that it was one of my favorite shoots ever! It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, in fact, it was really enjoyable to work with Fai. I mean, I'm working with my boyfriend, so everything's natural and genuine. And I felt great teaching Fai a few modeling tips along the way. HAHAHA.
Working with Sam and Josiah from Revelation Creative House was an amazing experience too. They're professionals which made them very knowledgeable of what to do so Fai and I could sit back and relax most of the time. It was a different sort of shoot from the usual outdoor shoots I would do. It's more editorial and since Sam is pretty passionate about photography, we just had to do the same poses over and over again until he gets the perfect one. So you don't need to be a model to pull off the LOVE IS campaign shoot.
Also, the funny thing is, during dinner before everything began, Josiah was telling us that their motive is to get people to realize why they even fell in love in the beginning. And it worked. Right after the shoot, Fai and I got much closer and we did appreciate each other more. It felt really nice and we knew then that the shoot was worth it.

This is my FAVORITE of all. Just look at the effects. That would take days to accomplish. I also love how it's shot at Chinatown itself where we first met. That's why we were in those old clothes. hahaha
