Cleo Sunsilk Cover!!! X My 20th Birthday Staycation {Part 1} X Adverts- W.A.R, Ellysage, Petite Fairies

Cleo Singapore February 2014
Sunsilk "Great Hair On The Go" Booklet Cover

HEY EVERYONE! Before I go on to talking about how my 20th birthday staycation went, I've got some GREAT NEWS! The photos from the Sunsilk shoot I did with Naomi, Asyiha and Rachel a few months ago are out. You can check them out in a booklet that comes together with every copy of Cleo's February 2014 issue. It's all about how we keep our hair tame and you can also learn a few tricks and tips in there.

I've been saving the behind the scenes pictures I took during the shoot for this very day to come, so check this space some time this week for another post specially about it. Thank you Sunsilk for having me once again! More on them in the next post ;)

Fai and I excited visited 7-Eleven during our staycation to grab a copy of Cleo magazine!
Feels weird seeing my face there. The 7-Eleven lady gave me a weird look while I paid for the magazine. Hahahaha.

My 20th Birthday Staycation
Part 1: Brunch & Dinner With The Girlies!

So I've been "away" over the last few days. hehehe. Well, in actual fact, I was on a staycation planned by my very own boyfriend, Fai. I've been nagging for months about how I really need a break and I just wanna go away. I have too many things to attend to, so much stress and work to be done that Fai thought it would be great for us both, to just chill out for a bit over the weekends. What better way to do it as a little celebration for my 20th birthday.

Yes, I am turning 20 on the 22nd of January 2014. And I guess 20 isn't exactly an age that requires much celebration because honestly, turning 20 is pretty scary and not a nice feeling at all. When you get to this age, you start to feel the urgency to grow up quick. People you know are starting to get married and they're talking about buying houses, or planning to get a job some where, so on and so forth. It's not all fun and games anymore because SHIT GETS REAL

It's an age you'd realize that you're no longer a kid and it's proven when you'd rather just have a quiet 20th birthday celebration like what I had. Gone are the days where I'd be forced to take shots of Vodka or getting cake smashed into my face etc. Well, thank God for that.

Anyway, here's how our staycation went. Fai brought me to Robertson Quey and randomly led me into Toby's Estate, which is a relatively awesome brunch cafe. It's located at 8 Rodky st. #01-03/04 (s)238216. We've been there before so it was quite surprising that Fai wanted to have a meal there again. Especially when we hadn't even check into our hotel yet. I just went with the flow because he was "in-charged" anyway.

Of course, Fai being a pretty good actor, managed to fool me into believing that brunch was just gonna be the two of us. To my pleasant surprise, my two dearest friends, Jaslyn and Laraine, were already in Toby's Estate awaiting our arrival. It took me about 3 seconds to realized that they were there to surprise me. I honestly thought it was all coincidental initially. I know, how blonde can I get right.
Toby's Estate offer mostly eggs, sausages, bacons and lots and lots of bread. There's a very unique taste to most of their dishes and only if you know how to appreciate it, then you'll like it there. Jaslyn and I are pretty picky eaters and we found it hard to favor our dishes. It was good but not the best I guess? I have to compliment on the plating though, it looked awesome and "Instagram-worthy". Which explains the next picture. hehehe
Here's my plate. I had a very simple Butter Croissant with Scrambled Eggs and a Sausage that wasn't really to my liking. As you can see, I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food. Honestly, all I wanted then was some Truffle Fries :( Not a very breakfast kinda person... Unless you're talking about pancakes with maple syrup. YUM!
Here's what Jas had! From the look on her face across the table, I guess it wasn't really to her liking too? hahaha. There's just too much greens for either of us to handle.
Laraine's was mouth-watering. It looks simple -just toasted bread with salmon and egg- but I am certain that it tastes awesome. Fai kept going on and on about how good her's looked.
And the killer dish came. Fai's. I JUST WANT DEM BACON. BACON GOOD. Everything else was pretty alright. Maybe I just wasn't having an appetite but this round of Toby's was pretty mediocre to me. I don't know if I'm not "atas" enough to enjoy it but everything was a little too tasteless?
Thank God for great company though. It was a great way to kickstart my 20th birthday staycation. These girls skipped class just to have brunch with me and it means a lot. And yes, I am super underdressed because I had no idea that I'll be meeting anyone! I thought I was just going to the hotel straight where I'd head to bed immediately! hahaha

Well, thank you my Charlie's Angels for being a part of my staycation for a bit :) Can't wait for school to officially be over for us!!!
After brunch, Fai and I headed to our hotel. We were staying at Park Hotel @Clarke Quay in case you were wondering. After staying there for 2 nights, we came to realized that it was a hotel that attracts lots of rather "aged" ang mo couples. It seemed to be a place where foreign businessmen would put up at. Hence at some point of time when we were in the pool, we did feel a little out of place. hahaha. Anyway, service is inevitably impeccable and facilities were superb so there's nothing for us to frown upon at all.
This is our room before it got messy.
We took a long nap and watched TV all day long until it was dinner time. Yeah, we didn't do much at all on the first day. But that's the whole point of a staycation. You just laze around and do nothing which helps to release a hell lot of stress.

Fai brought me out for dinner and mentioned that it was to be held at some restaurant in town. I followed as usual since he was in charge and again, I didn't expect anything at all. But, it was the Princess Ashleigh's turn to surprise me. hahaha. We had dinner at Marmalade Pantry which is located at #03-22 ION Orchard. And I have to say that though I was a little skeptical about this place at first, I was very impressed with the food in the end.

As mentioned earlier, I'm not very adventurous with food hence, I'd sticked to what I know best and only had The Marmalade Mac and Cheese. I'm not complaining at all for this one though cause it's REALLY GOOD. If you're a huge fan of Mozzarella Cheese, you're gonna love it!
HOWEVER, Fai and Ashleigh's dishes were AWESOME. They both ordered the Chicken Arrabiata, which is marinated chicken with sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, chili padi, and parsley. Just reading those ingredients already makes my mouth watery. It's so full of flavor and though it is really spicy, it's so worth it! It tasted really good and I wish I'd ordered that instead.
Fai enjoying his Chicken Arrabiata.
Ashleigh too!
Anyone wanna trade with me? hehehe
Mandatory shot with the princess. Thank you so much for coming down to have dinner with me. And for putting in effort to really dress up this time. HAHA. Ash came in heels while I came in flip flops this time. Total opposite of how it usually is. hahahaha
Thank you my dearest Fai Fai for planning everything and putting it all together really nicely. I am glad that everything worked out really smoothly. Day 1 ended really nicely with the 3 of us heading back to the hotel for a couple of drinks and an early night for Fai and I.
Oh yes, not forgetting these yummy dessert we had before we left Marmalade. hehehe

And that's it for my 20th Birthday Staycation {Part 1}. As you can see, Fai and I just ate and slept the entire time! Since it was a Friday, we'd missed our usual Fitball session at Amore Fitness hence, we felt really uncomfortable with the amount food we were consuming. Which led us to heading to the gym the next day. More on this in {Part 2} :) For now, thank you for reading. I'm back on earth, facing reality again :( Boohoo...

Have a great week everyone!

*WAR* PAM ORIGAMI SKIRT (WHITE ROSE)

I am in love with the quality of this origami skirt! The last thing any of us girls should want this CNY would be sheer skirts that make our grandparents cringe. I love the cut in neckline a lot which shows off my shoulder blades, just the perfect amount of skin revealed for this festive CNY season.

Tiara Floral Tube Dress in Red
I am DEFINITELY wearing this dress for CNY! Trust me, it's really comfortable and hides whatever budge I'm gonna get on CNY cause of eating too much goodies. hehehe. It fits perfectly and it's subtle floral lace detail holds the entire dress together really well, making it look super sweet :)

Floral Lace Skirt in Black
If wearing red isn't really your "thing" for CNY, I think this floral lace skirt would be a great substitute! It may be black but the floral lace details would still fetch you a lot of compliments cause it's just so pretty! Simply pair it with a lighter and possibly brighter top and you're good to go!
