My First Visit To IDS ;)
Hello peeps! It's so nice to able to blog even though I'm on internship. It's been 2 days now and so far, everything's going really well. At the moment, I am just required to source for apparels for an upcoming fashion show next week! How exciting! It's really what I've always wanted to do so I can say that I'm pretty lucky ;) And this is all thanks to my bbgirl Jas for helping me secure a position in this company^^

Right, back to the main subject of this post. You probably already know that I've made my very first visit to IDS skincare clinic. Yes, that's something I never thought I'll ever do unless something really terrible happened to my skin. *touch wood*. All these years, I've been using the same old products over and over again, and I never thought of going for facials either simply because I'm just afraid. Like some of you have mentioned, "if it's not broken, don't fix it."
Well, it don't seem like it but I do have some problems regarding my skin that I wish I could fix too. For example, I used to think that I have a combination skin type whereby my T-zone is pretty oily while everywhere else is fine. But lately, I've noticed a change. After just a few short hours out in the sun, I find that my skin gets SUPER oily. The sort where my oil blotter becomes translucent type of oily. It's upsetting and I've become pretty conscious about it. Apart from that, I have been getting quite a few break outs even though it's not that time of the month yet. (Hopefully this is due to the weather)
Also, I've always noticed that my skin isn't as bright and alluring as most bloggers. It's definitely NOT flawless because I've quite a bit of dark spots from old break outs. I have itchy fingers and I enjoy bursting my pimples even though I know that it's bad. hahaha. So the dark spots are something I wish could go away. But how's this possible if I have really oily skin that keep giving me breakouts?
That's when I decided to jump on the bandwagon and make an appointment to consult Dr. SK Tan from IDS Clinic.

I've heard of many great things Dr. SK Tan did for my fellow blogger friends and I'd wanted to join the clinic he was at previously- Derma-RX. However, he's has left and founded IDS, so it's only natural that I'll follow wherever he goes.
Dr. SK Tan is one of the foremost physicians in aesthetics and cosmeseuticals in Asia. Speaking to him was pretty nerve wrecking because he's a man with tons of experiences and qualifications. I don't even know where to start of the amount of certificates on display outside his office. Some of which I have never heard of! The awesome thing about IDS is that they always believe that every skincare problem can be solved through a range of IDS skincare products, specially innovated by Dr. SK Tan himself! I was relieved to hear that I can expect to not go for facial treatments if the products work well for me. Which is great news for everyone because treatments are always a lot more costly than products. When I heard this, I knew that IDS is a place that doesn't hide you from the truth. Dr. SK Tan and his team is genuinely passionate about helping us with our problems.
I love the ambience of the IDS clinic. It's not very clinical like hospitals and such, so I felt a little less intimidated. Everything's extremely clean and organised. The moment I'd stepped in, I knew that I was going to be in really professional hands.
The entire process started out by an analysis of my skin which required me to be bare face. So please don't be alarm at the following images, I have NO make up on, except for my brows, and thank God I did eyelash extensions a few days before so I didn't look as bad as I'd usually do. hehehe
The analysis helps Dr. SK Tan to keep track on the progress of my skin. I look horrendous in the pictures! As you can see, I have quite a bit of dark spots on my forehead and the side of my cheeks. They've been there for God knows how long and I'm tired of constantly covering them up with make up everyday. Hopefully, my skin will look better during the next visit. I think it will ;)
No foundation, powder, concealer and this is how my skin looks like. Quite certain that my eye-bags are worst now though! hahaha, I haven't been able to get proper rest.
Next, I was brought to Dr. SK Tan's office for consultation! He has such a fatherly figure and isn't afraid to "lecture" you if you're not taking proper care of your skin. When I told him that I don't use sunscreen before I head out, he showed me a file of images of how my skin might look like in future if I continue this bad habit. Right at that very moment, I was SUPER EAGER to slap on layers and layers of sunscreen. Trust me girls, you do not want to battle with hyper-pigmentations in future. Prevention is better than cure! Do something good for you skin now while you still can.
Once the consultation was over, we proceeded to the next step where I was introduced to the products catered for my skin type and it's problem areas. In total, I have 9 different products to use. It may seem like a lot but when it does wonders, you won't even care about how many products you have to use. I love how this segment was done privately behind closed doors away from the other patients at the waiting area. I felt so secure knowing that IDS truly cares about how I feel.
Here are the 9 products that I used every morning before I head out and every night before I go to sleep, except for the Facial Scrub, I use that only once every 2-3 days. I shall talk more about these products individually towards the end of this post.
It was a very pleasant first visit and I can't wait to see even more results! As of now, it's only been about 2 weeks so my skin isn't flawless yet but it's on it's way there. Also, since I haven't been getting enough rest, I still do get a few pimples here and there. So we shall wait a while more and I will definitely do a before and after comparison photo. With that said, I do see and feel a difference in my skin. It's AMAZINGLY not as oily anymore and my pores (Especially nose and side of nose area) aren't clogged as well!!! Soon enough, I don't think I'll need to use oil blotter anymore. hehehe.
I understand that some times you'd find it hard to believe a blogger's words because we are always getting sponsors and free gifts etc. But I would NEVER EVER advertise for something I don't believe in. I did it once when I first started out and I had a pretty unpleasant experience which taught me to always be as truthful as possible to you guys.
So trust me on this, I know that IDS is a reputable skincare clinic and if you're looking for a place to treat your skin problems, IDS should definitely be on the top of your list. This is my first time agreeing to seek help for my skin woes, and I never thought I'll ever do it. Doesn't this already show how much I trust IDS? :) But always remember that at the end of the day, the outcome of your skin depends on how you take care of it. Being lazy to apply the products won't do you any good. So it's all in your hands.

And now, more in-dept details about the IDS products.
Step 1: Cleansing Gel
- Removes make up, dirt and grime effectively
- Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant ingredients
- Helps to neutralize chlorine in water
- Paraben and fragrance free
I start off the entire routine with the Cleansing Gel that I am really impressed with. I hate removing make up because it's so tedious but we all know that it's really crucial. Usually, I'd just used make up wipes to remove my powder and concealer etc. and I've always thought that my make up wipes are amazing until this came along. Even after removing my make up using the wipes, this cleansing gel managed to find traces of make up that I've left behind. The awesome thing is, it doesn't dry out my skin!!! After this step, my skin still feels supple and smooth.
Step 2: Gentle Cleanser
-Fragrance free
- Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant extracts
- Moisturise and fight environmental stresses
- Gentle on dry and sensitive skin
I LOVE THIS CLEANSER. It's so light and fragrant-free. After every use, my skin always feel a lot fresher. It is extremely gentle that I thought I didn't apply enough on my face during my first encounter. It's almost like just applying water on my skin with a huge after-effect. Like magic.
Step 3: Scrub
- Ultra-fine crytals
- Exfoliate dead skin cells
- Speed up skin turnover
- Clears out impurities and absorbs excess oil
If I had to pick out one product out of the range that I've received, I would pick this scrub. I think the reason for the decrease in oil production and clogs in my skin is thanks to it! Almost immediately after using this, I can feel a huge difference in my skin. As though they can finally "breathe". hahaha. I use this once ever 2 to 3 days though because my skin can get pretty dry if I use it too often.
Step 4: Purifying Toner
- Refreshing and Soothing
- Alcohol-free
- Photo protection and anti-inflammatory benefits
- Protect and repair DNA damage caused by UV exposure
This is the first toner I've used in my entire life that doesn't make my skin feel dry thanks to it's alcohol-free properties. Toner is something that I MUST use in any facial routine because I simply just think it's not complete without it. I love how this toner and every other IDS product feels light and settles into the skin quickly. Almost like water.
Step 5: Pore
- Minimizes excess oil production
- Reduced blackheads and whiteheads
- Green Tea extracts that reduced break outs
Who need pimple creams and such when you can get something that prevents pimples instead of just curing it. Thanks to this product, I don't get extremely oily skin anymore! Like every other IDS product, it's also light and settles into skin quickly thus leaving my skin feeling supple and smooth after. I was told to apply it to my T-zone area but I like to apply it to my entire face. hehehe
Step 6: C+
- Age fighter
- Tackles wrinkles, loss of firmness, patchy skin tone, dark spots, acne
- Antioxidant and collagen-boosting benefits
- Skin lightening effects
- Melanin- suppressive effects
Arghh! Vitamin C is always good for everyone. Now I can be sure that my skin has adequate amount of it with this product! It must be the reason why the dark acne spots on my skin have reduced significantly. Anything that makes me fairer is always good for me. hehe. We shall see if I managed to get back that "glow" in a few more weeks time ;)
Step 7: A+
- Encourages and boosts cellular turnover
- Maintain overall skin quality
Stop telling me that I'm too young to be using products on my skin! Just because I don't have wrinkles yet doesn't mean that I can't prevent it or reduce it. With this A+ product, I think that I'll be able to grow old without worrying to much about ageing skin. hehehe. Oh and I LOVE THE SMELL of this product.
Step 8: OM
- Oil-free moisturiser
- No shine/grease
- Vits C, E and moisturising extracts
- Suppresses melanin, hence fights acne and lighten acne scars
So many benefits in a moisturiser? Sign me up! I love love love this moisturiser. It's feel so good applying this because it's really light and not greasy at all! It's amazing.
Step 9: Sunscreen SPF50 Non-tinted
- Block infrared radiation
- Keeps skin's surface temperature stable
- Vit C and antioxidant benefits
My savour. My first sunscreen. Girls, if you don't use sunscreen, you will definitely see an effect on your skin a few years down the road. You can't see anything now but things are happening beneath the surface. Please use a sunscreen so that you don't have to spend even more money in future getting rid of hyper-pigmentations. Thank you IDS and Dr. SK Tan for lecturing me and saving my skin before it's too late. I love this sunscreen, it's really watery, not oily or greasy at all. Dries up quickly as well. I can't leave house without it now!!!
Whew! Finally covered all 9 products! It was pretty difficult for me to remember the steps during the first few days but I'm a pro now. hahaha. And that's it for now people! Hopefully, one day I can leave house with just sunscreen. No powder, no concealer. Maybe just brows, mascara and tinted lip balm on. hehehe. Cheers to FLAWLESS SKIN!
